Theodora Egyir needs your help for her breasts surgery

Here is Theodora Egyir, a fifteen-year-old Junior High School Student in Form 3. Two years ago, Theodora, started noticing swellings in both breasts (gigantomastia). Her breasts grew alarmingly, disfiguring her stature, affecting her breathing and education. At the time, her situation was brought to our attention at the Foundation, her breasts weighed 15kilograms. Her condition is known as gigantomastia or breast hypertrophy. This condition suspended poor Theodora’s education due to the weight of the growth, labored breathing and the constant pains.
Theodora’s father, Mr Kwame Eygir, a peasant farmer from Ekumfi (Central Region of Ghana) got in touch with the Henry Djaba Memorial Foundation and we raised funds with support from the Charismatic Evangelistic Ministry (CEM) and the Methodist Church, Winneba for the breast reduction surgery at Korle Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra.

Gigantomastia or breast hypertrophy is a rare condition that causes excessive growth of the female breast. The condition occurs randomly especially during puberty, pregnancy or after taking certain medications. It does not occur in men. According to medical experts, there is no exact cause of this condition.
Information reaching the office of the Henry Djaba Memorial Foundation from Theodora’s father and eye witnesses indicates that, the condition is gradually re-occurring in spite of the surgery and so she needs further and urgent medical attention again.
Theodora and her parents live in Akwansa Kokodo, a village near Mankessim in the Ekumfi District of the Central Region. Mr. Kwame Egyir, as a small peasant farmer with six children, is not in a position to finance the medical bills, periodic reviews every three months. The next review date is 2nd August 2020. He is therefore appealing for financial support to cater for their transportation to and fro Korle Bu, medications and the cost of medical fees at the Plastic Surgery Department.
